Pacific Northwest. Our five quarries are:
Granite:
Hardy Island Granite Quarry is the largest producing granite quarry
in the Pacific Northwest. Hardy Island Granite is a mid -gray,
salt & pepper coloured granite. It has exceptionally well
developed splitting grains which allows for an economical production
of high quality split face & sawn products.
Andesite:
Haddington Island Andesite is grey to buff in colour. It is considered
by many to be B.C's finest building stone. It is easily profiled
and carved. Some of B.C.'s landmark buildings were faced in andesite-the
Vancouver Hotel and Victoria's Parliament Buildings.
Whistler
Basalt:
Whistler
Basalt is a volcanic rock found in the hills near Whistler,BC. It's
all weathered columns naturally fit into any landscape. The charcoal
inside mixed with the weathered outside make Whistler Basalt a truly
unique building stone.
Rhyolite:
Rhyolite
is an all weathered volcanic rock that comes in columns or ready
to use building stone. Its attractive brown, beige, taupe and charcoal
blends give it an old rustic look. Rhyolite will help any project
fit in with the natural environment.
Newcastle
Sandstone:
Newcastle
Sandstone is the only sandstone quarry in the Pacific Northwest.
The quarry has been operating since the early 1900's and its durability
has proven the test of time. Newcastle Sandstone colour tones range
from gray to tan to rust.
